The project

After a period in which I was the sole designer in the company, the department expanded, and new members were integrated into the development team. In this context, Figma emerged as a more effective tool than Adobe XD in various aspects to address our challenges. In response, I restructured the workflow in Figma for the company's designers, developing a style guide that details the components used in building key tools

Challenges

  • We sought to align designers and developers on the same page

  • It was necessary to establish a workflow adapted to our reality.

  • Educated developers during the transition of tools and changes in the handoff process.

  • Bring agility and consistency to screen construction through a style guide based on a specific component library used in development.

Internal Style Guide: We designed an internal style guide

Implementation of Figma Workflow: We established a workflow using Figma for designers and developers

+1,400 Components Created: We developed over 1,400 components for the style guide, utilizing the library in use in development.

60% More Agility in Screen Construction: We increased screen construction agility by 60%, ensuring consistency and quality in UI deliveries.

Construction of Figma Workflow: We built a Figma workflow from scratch for designers and promoted alignment through workshops with developers on the new handoff model.

Adaptation of Workflow to Reality

We conducted research to understand how other companies organize their workflows, leveraging knowledge shared by Spotify. Organized files by teams, established the project lifecycle, and adopted the correct way to hand off projects to developers.

Use of Component Library

We based the creation of the style guide on the Ant Design library, already used in major projects. Analyzed the components in use, brought them into Figma, and adapted them to our needs, providing consistency in screens developed by designers and agility in deliveries for developers.

The importance of documentation in team organization and responding to developers' needs, resulting in increased agility and continuous financial benefits for the company.

The consolidation of an efficient workflow, resistant to changes in teams, and generating positive results up to the present moment.
